George Lucas to receive the DigiGlobe Award

Founded by Deutsche Telekom and the FOCUS news magazine in Germany, the DigiGlobe Award rewards information technology pioneers whose breakthrough represents concrete progress for humankind in everyday life. Seven awards are given out each year, one for each of the following categories: Society and Modern Living, Sports and Leisure Time, Culture and Entertainment, Research and Technology, Business and Politics, Education and Science, and Health and Medicine.

Tomorrow, on September 1st, 1999, George Lucas will receive the DigiGlobe Lifetime Award for his ongoing contribution to the spheres of culture and entertainment through the use of information technology. The ceremony will be broadcast in Germany on September 3, 1999, at 10:30 p.m. on channel 3 SAT.
