Reach for the Stars!

June 1, 1999
Our very own Dennis Muren, Industrial Light & Magic's senior visual effects supervisor, will soon be awarded a star bearing his name on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Muren is the first visual effects artist ever to be honored in this manner, a testimony to the dedicated work he has produced at ILM since he came aboard in 1976.

In the course of his career, Muren has relentlessly pushed visual effects to their limits, creating ground breaking visuals in movies such as Close Encounters of the Third Kind, the Star Wars Trilogy, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Willow, The Abyss, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Jurassic Park, Twister, The Lost World, to name but a few. Throughout the years, Muren's work has won him an impressive total of eight Academy Awards. His last project was the visuals-intensive Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace.

The Dennis Muren Star on Hollywood Boulevard Ceremony is an event open to the public, and will take place on June 3, 1999, at 11:30 a.m. PST. The address is 6764 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, California -- right in front of the Guinness World Record Museum. We hope to see you there.

Congratulations Dennis!!
