Fallen
Jedi and
Ewoks share the spotlight of
Lucasfilm Magazine #59, the magazine of the Official French
Star Wars Fan Club.
In this issue, catch up with actor Warwick Davis, who was 11 years old at the time he played Wicket W. Warrick in Return of the Jedi. Members of the Industrial Light & Magic digimatte team -- Jonathan Harb, Brett Northcutt, Yanick Dusseault, and Hilmar Koch -- discuss their astounding visual effects work. And author Daniel Wallace explores the Emperor's dossiers of the lost Jedi who became the tragic casualties of Order 66, which includes an intriguing twist of offering up the official Imperial spin as to what happened to these "traitors of the Empire."
This issue also features a tour of the new Lucasfilm offices at the beautiful Letterman Digital Arts Center in San Francisco, including an exclusive interview with landscape architect Lawrence Halprin. Film and documentary director Peter Shillingford shares his memories of shooting the Making of Star Wars, and Lucas Licensing Vice President Howard Roffman unveils the story behind the Indiana Jones toys.
Also in this issue, see the works of the artist that started it all -- the legendary Ralph McQuarrie. Back when George Lucas shopped Star Wars around to find an interested studio, all he had was the script and works of breathtaking concept art from McQuarrie. This issue looks back at the career of this original Star Wars visionary.
All the regular departments are back in this issue, including Skywalker Reporter featuring the new video game LEGO Star Wars II : The Original Trilogy, remembering Uncle Owen actor Phil Brown and information on the latest development of the new Star Wars animated TV series and Indiana Jones IV.
Lucasfilm Magazine #59 is available in two formats. The Obi-Wan Kenobi cover has already been shipped to subscribers, and the Ki-Adi-Mundi/Aayla Secura cover will be available May 19 on French newsstands. For more information on the Official French Fan Club, visit their website here.
