Dressing a Galaxy: The Costumes of
Star Wars opens this coming Monday, September 19 at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles. The exhibit, the first ever to celebrate costume design from all six movies of the
Star Wars saga, will run through December 10, 2005.
The spectacular and incredibly detailed costumes of Trisha Biggar, Costume Designer for The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith, will be featured predominantly in a display of over 100 original costumes, costume props, and photographs. Also of note will be the new Darth Vader costume, including the iconic helmet and mask created for Revenge of the Sith by Costume Props Supervisor Ivo Coveney. Dressing the Galaxy will occupy more than 11,000 square feet of exhibit space and offer Star Wars and costume fans a rare and lavish visual treat.
A portion of Biggar's costumes from the FIDM exhibit was on the runway in New York City for Fashion Week on Thursday, September 15. They will then return to Los Angeles in time for the Gallery opening on Monday.
