Lawrence Noble to Sculpt Live at Celebration Japan

Lawrence Noble, the talented sculptor who has created many stunning original works, including the bronze statue of Jedi Master Yoda installed at Lucasfilm's offices in the Presidio, San Francisco, will be sculpting live during Star Wars Celebration Japan. Noble is scheduled to work as part of the Celebration Japan Art Show, and will be talking with fans as he creates a one-of-a-kind, life-sized bust of a beloved Star Wars character from the saga.

What's more, one extremely fortunate fan who attends Celebration Japan will be selected to receive the completed, original sculpt! Noble plans to sculpt a life-sized, head and shoulders bust of Luke Skywalker from the original Star Wars trilogy. This priceless piece will be cast under Noble's direction after the show, then shipped to the winner's place of residence by Lewis Daniel Group, co-producers with Lucasfilm of Star Wars Celebration Japan.

Noble's many achievements include designing numerous motion picture advertising campaigns, like The Empire Strikes Back 10th anniversary poster. Danbury Mint selected him to design and produce the Star Wars chess set. He has been commissioned to create many works since, including a bronze bust of Gene Roddenberry, creator of Star Trek.

Super-Collectible Medallions for Celebration Japan!

Those who love the host of toys and pop culture treasures inspired by the Star Wars Saga will love the fascinating Star Wars collecting shows coming this July 19-21 at Celebration Japan.

What's more, those attending the shows will have the chance to take home rare, two-inch pewter medallions commemorating classic Star Wars toys released in Japan in 1978. These medallions, twelve different designs in all, were created by passionate Star Wars collectors especially for the fans at Celebration Japan. They will be given away for free at random times during the Celebration Japan collecting panels.

Gus Lopez, who has coordinated the Star Wars collecting panels for Celebrations in the U.S. and London, is once again inviting some of the most knowledgeable and entertaining Star Wars collectors to talk about their passion. Among the speakers are notable Japanese collectors, who will talk about the exceptionally rich world of Japanese Star Wars toys and collectibles.

The collecting panels, scheduled to start each day at 2:00 pm Saturday through Monday, will feature great information and discussions for serious collectors, as well as entertainment and fun for those who love popular culture and Star Wars. Thanks to the help of dedicated sponsors, attendees at the panels could one or more of the extremely limited, exclusive give-aways.

The solid pewter medallions, designed by artist and Star Wars collector Jeff Correll, feature imagery based on actual Japanese toys, and were designed to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Star Wars in Japan.

"This pewter medallion give-away is limited to 350 of each," says Lopez, himself an uber-collector of Star Wars treasures. "They will be distributed individually to audience members at the twelve different panels."

The medallions will be amazing collectibles, and represent wonderful memories of a weekend spent celebrating 30 years of Star Wars and all that is to come.

"We'd like to thank our gracious sponsors who are all Star Wars collectors in their own right, for helping make this giveaway a reality," concludes Lopez. "And thanks to Jeff Correll, whose hard work and artistic insight helped breathe life into these exciting items. We look forward to seeing everyone at the collecting panels in July!"
