Costume Pageant at Celebration Europe!
June 20, 2007

Fans who enjoy creating and wearing Star Wars costumes -- and we know there are a few -- will have the opportunity to display their talent on stage at Star Wars Celebration Europe this July at London's ExCeL Center. The tremendous response for the costume contests at the U.S. Celebrations encouraged Lucasfilm and Cards Inc. to plan a pageant at the London festival.

The Costume Pageant is scheduled for Saturday, July 14 from 4:30 -- 6:00 pm on the Celebrity Stage in the Exhibit Hall, with host Warwick Davis. No stranger to costumes himself, the experienced actor Davis will bring his own sense of experience and fun to the show. The costumes will surely rival the most exquisite finery in Coruscant, so fans should make plans to enter or attend the show, which is free to Celebration Europe attendees.

To enter your costume, the rules are simple. All entries must represent a character or element in the Star Wars universe, whether from a movie, book, comic, or the imagination, and entrants must have a valid Celebration Europe entry badge. Registration and pre-judging are scheduled to start at 11 am on Saturday morning in the ExCeL Center. Contestants should go to the Information Counter in the hallway of the ExCeL for registration information on the day of the show.

The Costume Pageant will be judged solely on the quality of the costumes. Solo contestants will enter the stage, pivot, pause, and exit while emcee Davis reads the entrant's own description of the costume. No speaking or individualized music will be allowed. Star Wars-themed music will play throughout the pageant. The contest is limited to 75 entries. The time limit per contestant is approximately one minute (as long as it takes for the emcee to read the contestant's description).

A panel of costuming experts will judge participants, and 1st 2nd and 3rd place winners will be chosen in each of the following categories:

Children (15 and under)
The Dark Side
The Light Side
Creatures & Droids
The Outer Rim (Miscellaneous)

Adults (16 )
The Dark Side
The Light Side
Creatures & Droids
The Outer Rim (Miscellaneous)

The Celebration Europe Costume Pageant is sponsored by Toxic magazine.
