The
Star Wars Saga will continue in 2008 with LucasArts' biggest-ever video game event. Set during the "dark times" between Episodes III and IV,
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed portrays the previously untold story of
Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice -- and here's your chance to get the inside scoop!
Join LucasArts' Haden Blackman, Matt Omernick and Brett Rector as they discuss how they're using one of 2008's biggest video games to realize the Force in ways you've never seen before. Also on hand, two of the game's actors speak about their roles for the first time anywhere. A first-look documentary takes you even further behind the scenes of The Force Unleashed, and the panel awaits audience questions at the end of the presentation.
The Force Unleashed Panelists at Celebration IV:
Haden Blackman (Project Lead)
As Project Lead, Haden Blackman is responsible for the vision and production of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Already an accomplished writer, Blackman joined LucasArts as Writer/Researcher in 1997, where he played key writing and voice-direction roles on Star Wars games for several years. In 2001, he stepped into the role of Producer for Star Wars Galaxies and then moved on to The Force Unleashed in 2004. His Star Wars writing credentials extend to Dark Horse comic books and Del Rey's New Essential Guides.
Matt Omernick (Art Director)
As Art Director on Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Matt Omernick establishes the look and feel of the game and manages a talented team of artists and animators. Omernick has been with LucasArts since July 2003, and he has worked on such titles as Mercenaries, Star Wars Battlefront and Secret Weapons Over Normandy. Omernick has also served in art roles at Day 1 Studios (Mech Assault, Axis & Allies) and DreamWorks Interactive (Medal of Honor series). Outside of his day job, Omernick teaches college-level computer graphics courses, and he wrote a book published in 2004 called Creating the Art of the Game.
Brett Rector (Assistant Producer)
In his role as Assistant Producer, Brett Rector supports the production and development teams in whatever capacity is necessary. In addition to a deep personal interest in Star Wars, Rector's Lucasfilm knowledge stems from past positions he has held both as Documentation Editor at LucasArts, and later Editor-in-Chief at IDG's Star Wars Insider magazine, where he helped build the excitement for Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith. Rector has been part of the videogame industry since 1996, including stints at GamePro magazine, Incite magazine, and CNET.com's Gamecenter. You can read Brett's The Force Unleashed production diaries here.
