Star Wars bust!
Fans of Star Wars art have a long list of reasons to attend Star Wars Celebration Europe, scheduled for July 13 -- 15, 2007 at London's ExCeL Center. Talented artisans from all around the world will be creating original work just for the show, and will also share their knowledge and expertise in panels and master classes.
Lawrence Noble to Sculpt Live at Celebration Europe
One lucky fan to take home one-of-a-kind Star Wars bust!
Lawrence Noble, the talented sculptor who has created many stunning original works, including the bronze statue of Jedi Master Yoda installed at Lucasfilm's offices in the Presidio, San Francisco, will be sculpting live during Star Wars Celebration Europe. Noble's studio will be transported to the Animation Art Gallery stand adjacent to the Art Show in the main hall, where he will be talking with fans throughout the show as he sculpts. The artist will create a one-of-a-kind, life-sized bust of Grand Moff Tarkin from A New Hope, the first movie produced in the Star Wars saga.
What's more, one extremely fortunate fan who attends Celebration Europe will be selected to receive the completed, original sculpt! Noble plans to sculpt a life-sized, head and shoulders bust of Grand Moff Tarkin, who was played by the quintessentially British actor Peter Cushing. This priceless piece will be cast under Noble's direction after the show, then shipped to the winner's place of residence by Cards Inc., co-producers with Lucasfilm of Star Wars Celebration Europe.
Noble's many achievements include designing numerous motion picture advertising campaigns, like The Empire Strikes Back 10th anniversary poster. Danbury Mint selected him to design and produce the Star Wars chess set. Read more about Noble and his many artistic contributions, in the Star Wars Artists' Series on starwars.com.
Noble plans to sculpt all three days of Celebration Europe but will take regular breaks so will not be sculpting every hour the event is open.
Sculpture recipient will be selected on Sunday, July 15th, 2007 and entry requirements will be announced nearer to the event.
Celebration Europe Art Show
A Galactic Gallery From Around the World
Artwork has always been an important part of the Star Wars Universe. In fact, Ralph McQuarrie's concept art was a deciding factor in getting everything off the ground for the very first Star Wars movie. His stunning depictions of a galaxy far, far away helped George Lucas convince 20th Century Fox to fund the film that started it all more than 30 years ago.
Generations of artists owe a creative debt to both Lucas and McQuarrie. So many have been inspired by the endless artwork the Star Wars saga has generated. From matte paintings and comics to sketches and posters, Star Wars has extended its reach from the big screen to the canvas.
An exciting feature of Celebration Europe will be a dedicated Art Show, located in the main halls, and sponsored by London's Animation Art Gallery.
A variety of artists from around the world will exhibit their work and each artist has created a piece of art exclusive to Celebration Europe with a limited edition size of just 250 pieces! Fans will have an opportunity to not only purchase these sure-to-be-rare works but to meet the artist themselves, many of whom have never exhibited their art in Europe before.
The Celebration Europe Art Show will also feature a stage where selected artists will present talks and classes, including master class art sessions free for any attendees of the show.
The variety of artwork for sale at the show should ensure that Star Wars fans attending Celebration Europe should find something perfect for that empty space in their homes!
