Ink artists have known it for years -- there's a lot of amazing Star Wars tattoo art out there. Shane Turgeon, a tattoo aficionado and Star Wars fan, has gathered a most impressive collection of Star Wars tattoo art that will displayed throughout the weekend at Star Wars Celebration III in the Fan Fair Exhibit Hall in the Indiana Convention Center.

Not only will the art be on display, but there will be a live Tattoo Show and Competition scheduled for Sunday, April 24. Tattoos have been around for thousands of years, and the practice was surrounded by social stigma for generations. That stigma has lifted recently, and tattoos are popular, almost familiar expressions of individuality.

"More and more people from all walks of life see tattooing as an artistic way to express their individuality and pay homage to their culture, interests, or loved ones," says Turgeon. Turgeon's website, tattoosandtoys.com, features a vast gallery of Star Wars tattoos, some of them incredible in their artistry. More than 400 Star Wars works are on display on the site, inscribed on fans in a host of countries.

"Star Wars has had a significant impact on modern culture and it means so much to so many people around the world," says Turgeon. "Each and every Star Wars tattoo is as unique as its owner and is a way for fans to express what Star Wars means to them on a personal level."
