As the Shroud of the Dark Side Falls...A New Hope Dawns
The Lucasfilm Archive exhibit, scheduled to run throughout Star Wars Celebration III, will celebrate the spirit of hope that endures even after the galaxy plunges into darkness during the events of Revenge of the Sith. Fans should make time to explore the archives on display in Wabash One, to peruse the exceptional pieces, many of them rarely seen on exhibit.

The following list is just a taste of the exhibit items. We've saved many as a surprise for those attending the show!

Darth Vader
Costume
Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith
No visage is more synonymous with the dark side than the helmet and robes of Darth Vader. Worn by actor Hayden Christensen in Episode III, the costume personifies young Anakin Skywalker's fall. An idealistic and extremely talented young Jedi, with a powerful teacher and mentor in Obi-Wan Kenobi, he nevertheless chose the dark path.

Mustafar Volcano
Scale Model
Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith
The epic confrontation between Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi in Revenge of the Sith takes place on the lava planet of Mustafar. The model on display was built as a scale model of part of the Mustafar landscape.

AT-TE
Production Model
Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones
The All Terrain Tactical Enforcer (AT-TE) is the intimidating armored assault vehicle that made its debut on the battlefields of Geonosis at the start of the Clone Wars. Republic drop ships carried the lumbering walkers into the thick of combat and set them loose to creep toward enemy fortifications. The walker features six articulated legs, low to the ground, for propulsion.. They reduce the walker's top speed but provide it with a high level of stability.

Chewbacca's Crossbow

Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith
Throughout the original Star Wars trilogy Chewbacca carried his trusty crossbow. The elegant Kashyyyk crossbow, which he uses during the events of Revenge of the Sith, is on display along with two Wookiee blasters and a shield. The weapons are huge -- befitting their powerful bearers. As we will see in Episode III, the Wookiees are a powerful yet harmonious race. Their weapons, vehicles, and environments show an equal reverence for technology and the natural world.

[ Lucasfilm Archive Exhibit at Celebration III ] Chewbacca
Costume
Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith
The loyal and fierce Wookiees on Kashyyyk fight to prevent Imperial forces from spreading across their planet during the events of Revenge of the Sith. A witness to the destructive power of the Empire, and enslaved by Imperial forces, Chewbacca is helped by Han Solo in events that take place before A New Hope. Solo forfeits his position in the Imperial Academy to save the Wookiee, and is rewarded with a lifetime of friendship and loyalty.

Yoda
Puppet/Maquette
Star Wars Saga
During the events of The Empire Strikes Back Luke is sent by the spirit of Obi-Wan Kenobi to find Jedi Master Yoda. At first Luke, expecting to find a "great warrior," does not believe Yoda can be the one to teach him. Yoda proves that size matters not, and is the wise guide whom Luke needs to teach him the ways of the Jedi.

Millennium Falcon
Production Models
Original Star Wars Trilogy
Wherever Han Solo is in the galaxy, his trusty hunk of junk--the Millennium Falcon--will not be far away. Fans at the Celebration III archive exhibit will enjoy the rare treat of viewing two scale models of the Falcon, both used in filming the original trilogy. During the filming process there were models of Solo's trusty ship that ranged all the way from the size of a quarter up to the life-sized model that was built in Elstree Studios outside of London.

Wampa
Puppet
Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back
George Lucas' original plan was that the wampa ice creatures in The Empire Strikes Back would be played by actors in wampa costumes wearing stilts. The reality, however, was that stilts, ice, snow, and limited visibility did not make for convincing creature footage. In the end glimpses of wampa puppets like this one were committed to film to create the fearsome look for the movie. Not until the Special Editions was Lucas able to successfully bring his full-view wampa to the screen.

Imperial Star Destroyer
Production Model
Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope
There may be no scene more memorable to more Star Wars fans than the shot of the immense Star Destroyer Devastator gliding overhead during the opening sequence of A New Hope. Countless directors cite this as the moment they decided to pursue film as a career, and countless Star Wars fans recall that as the shot that hooked them.

The Imperial Star Destroyer is also symbolic of the powerful, evil Empire in pursuit of the small band of Rebels. Although her ship is captured Leia does not give up hope. She hides the plans for the Death Star inside R2-D2 and sends him to find Obi-Wan on Tatooine. The circle is almost complete.

Darth Sidious' Lightsaber

Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace

Count Dooku's Lightsaber

Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith
Obi-Wan Kenobi referred to lightsabers as elegant weapons from a more civilized age. Elegant, yes, but equally deadly in the hands of Jedi and Sith alike.

In Revenge of the Sith we will finally witness the epic battle between Obi-Wan and Anakin that pits Master against Padawan, friend against friend. We will also see a battle we had hoped for, but did not know whether to expect - an incredible battle between Yoda and Darth Sidious, the ultimate embodiments of light and dark side power.
