Episode I Personalities at Celebration II
April 09, 2002

You have seen them many times on the screen in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, but chances are you might not recognize these actors if you saw them out of costume. Jerome Blake, Silas Carson, and Alan Ruscoe will appear at Star Wars Celebration II at the Indiana Convention Center May 3, 4, and 5.

Ask the actors what it's like to wear those impressive costumes, and the even more impressive makeup when you see them for interviews and question and answer sessions. Then go to the C2 Ventures area to meet them and get their autographs.

Jerome Blake played Rune Haako, the Trade Federation attorney, and Mas Amedda, Vice-Chancellor of the Galactic Senate in The Phantom Menace. Not only did Blake perform Haako and Amedda, but also Oppo Rancisis -- a member of the Jedi High Council, the Anx gambler Graxol Kelvyyn, and Senators Orn Free Taa and Horox Ryyder.

Blake spent twenty years working as a musician before making his move into acting. The short film The Last Campaign exposed him to the delights of armaments and stunts, which eventually brought him to his first role in a feature film, First Knight. Two of Blake's Star Wars characters will reappear in Episode II Attack of the Clones.

Silas Carson appeared a number of times in Episode I The Phantom Menace, but even those with sharp eyes would be hard-pressed to recognize his repeat performances. Carson was Nute Gunray, the leader of the Neimoidian Trade Federation, Ki-Adi-Mundi, the "tall-headed" member of the Jedi Council, and also the co-pilot on the ill-fated Republic Cruiser that ferried the Jedi to their meeting with the Trade Federation at Naboo.

Carson appeared in the film Fever Pitch, and in the television shows Supply & Demand, and Cold Lazarus. His character of Ki-Adi-Mundi has been chronicled in Star Wars comic books by Dark Horse. Celebration II will be a rare U.S. appearance for Carson.

Alan Ruscoe played Neimoidian Daultay Dofine as well as Jedi Master Plo Koon and a Twi'lek Senator informally dubbed "Bib Fortuna" in Episode I The Phantom Menace. The actor will be making his first U.S. convention appearance at Celebration II.

No stranger to sci-fi costumes, Ruscoe was also seen as Keno the Mangalore in The Fifth Element. He has extensive theater credits including Sweat, Rock Hard, Jesus Christ Superstar, West Side Story, and Riff-Raff in The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
