For fans who might like to add a touch of class to their workspace, den, bedroom, or
Star Wars museum, Official Pix launches a stunning set of large-format black and white portraits of
A New Hope's
Luke Skywalker and
Princess Leia today, each signed by
Mark Hamill or
Carrie Fisher!
Official Pix is offering up a pair of beautiful, high-quality portraits, likely shot in 1976 during the filming of A New Hope. The image of Hamill's Luke Skywalker depicts him with the black tunic he's seen wearing at the end of the film (it's fairly uncommon to see Luke in black until Return of the Jedi) and Fisher's Princess Leia looks just as alluring and sultry as we've ever seen her pre- the gold bikini.
This rare commemorative offering can be viewed as a follow-up to the limited edition portfolio of 30 rarely-seen black and white stills sold earlier this year by Official Pix and released as an homage to the vintage film presskits. "When Lucasfilm first released these stunning images in celebration of the film's 30th anniversary, we started brainstorming with Chris Spitale at Lucas Licensing on potential product and came up with the idea to do a series of 8x10 photo sets [for Celebration IV] , as well as really big black and white museum-quality pieces to properly capture the visual essence of these iconic characters "
These large-format portraits come from the original 3x5-inch positives and negatives, ensuring the highest quality transfers which will measure a sizable 24x24 inches (30x30 inches framed, domestic only). Each will be hand-numbered and boldly signed by either Hamill or Fisher, and will come with a certificate of authenticity from the sole authorized licensee of Star Wars autographs. Each portrait is limited to just 50 pieces and will be priced at $299.
Official Pix may offer more of these stunning photographs separately, or in future collections. "Ben and I are currently working on a triptych of Han, Luke, and Leia from the same photo shoot that we hope to release in the near future," says Spitale. Stevens says he hopes to see these out in 2008 , as well as future portfolios of rarely-seen film stills, behind-the-scenes galleries, and maybe even a special collection based around everyone's favorite princess.. .
Head on over to Official Pix's website to order up these first in a potential series of fantastic gallery-style imagery from the Star Wars saga.
