So it turns out those few hundred Artoo units camped out on street corners across the nation were not just taking a springtime holiday in the states -- they have actually stopped in to announce a union between the USPS and the world of Star Wars, two powerful forces which have joined to produce the first official U.S. postage stamp bearing Star Wars imagery (shown here).

Celebrating 30 years of the Star Wars saga, the new postage stamp will become available later this summer. The Postal Service isn't stopping with the stamps; there are other activities planned to involve America. Something this big hasn't happened since Elvis.
