Both Jedi and
Sith can sign up for the upcoming
Star Wars Strike Force Bowling League at over 1,000 participating centers throughout the U.S and over 100 centers in the United Kingdom starting in August through the fall.
"Bowling is the perfect place to enjoy some quality time with the family and what could be better than bowling with other families that have a common interest in Star Wars? Plus you receive exclusive, officially-licensed Star Wars bowling balls and other Star Wars collectibles when you complete the league," Strike Ten/Leading Edge Promotions Executive Vice-President John Harbuck says. "In today's hectic and busy environment the Star Wars Strike Force gives you the chance to 'make an appointment' with your kids doing something that they're interested in. Bowling is fun and easy, especially with the bumpers. No one sits the bench in bowling and many times the kids are better than the parents."
To find a participating bowling center in your area, visit the Strike Force Centers site here. Enter your zip code in the search engine to see the closest center in your area. The site also has an easy-to-use map for locating the participating bowling center. Sign-ups will begin in August and the typical league lasts between 14-18 weeks. Team sizes can vary from league to league but the typical teams consist of 2 or 4 people.
While there are no bowling trophies given to the best team, each participant will receive an official Star Wars Strike Force Certificate of Award which certifies that the league member has completed the Star Wars Strike Force and become an official Jedi Master Bowler.
"Bowling is just plain old fun regardless but with this promotion you're bowling with others in your community that have a common interest in Star Wars," Harbuck adds. "You may not know the people in your league when you start but at the completion you will have had a blast bowling with your family plus made some new friends along the way."
When asked which side of the Force seems to produce the best bowlers, Harbuck felt both sides would give it their all on the lanes.
"The Jedi Masters are formidable bowlers because of their tremendous flexibility and dexterity skills honed by years of training. The sheer positive energy the light side Force creates also enhances the pin action when the ball strikes the pins resulting in more strikes," Harbuck explains. "These skills and the light side of the Force serve them well as bowlers. The dark side, however, capitalizes on the destructive nature of the Force, willing the pins to crash into one another as the ball is hurled toward them. In many cases, the pins have all crashed into the pin setter back splash before the ball reaches them. An obvious example of the sheer power and awesome destructive nature of the dark side of the Force."
"I'd probably go with the light side of the Force since Yoda has been taking lessons from Walter Ray, the PBA's top touring professional bowler," Harbuck jokes.
