Takara Star Wars Board Game

My favorite Star Wars collectible from Japan is Takara's Escape from Death Star board game, the first Star Wars board game ever made, issued in Japan in 1978. Although widely available around the world at the time, most localized versions of the game featured the localized Star Wars logo with some minor text changes. In Japan, this game took on a whole new look with a completely different box cover design that was far superior to the ones sold in other corners of the world. The game contents are similar in that every piece, card, instruction sheet, and item in the box is uniquely styled for the Japanese market. -- Gus Lopez
