5. Move Over Busting Innards

The most recent addition to the "why didn't we think of it first" list, this R2-D2 dustbin from Japan started taking out the trash just last year. With the chrome-domed trashcan a fixture of American utilitarian design, we're not sure why an R2-D2 translation has been overlooked for so long.
