[ Biography ]

Scott Balcerek has been with Industrial Light & Magic since 1995 as an assistant visual effects editor. In 1994, after editing "Street Songs", winner of a Student Academy Award, he decided to enter the graduate school program at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles. Prior to graduate school at the AFI, Balcerek graduated from the University of Pittsburghs creative writing program.

Balcerek co-edited the feature film, "2x4," which premiered in competition at the Sundance Film Festival in 1998. The film won for Best Cinematography, and is due to be released by Strand Releasing in the near future. He also edited "Men Cry Bullets," winner of the South-by-Southwest Film Festival. Balcerek is currently directing his first documentary, "Harlem Blues."
