[ Biography ]

David Dozoretz was born in Phoenix, Arizona and grew up in Atlanta, where he attended George Walton High School. He attended the University of Arizona in Media Arts and studied Film Production. Dozoretz interned at ILM in the art production department, where he returned as a production assistant the following summer.

Dozoretz is currently working for Lucasfilm as a Previsualization Artist. For the Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition, he previsualized the entire galaxy celebration at the end of Return of the Jedi. He used models to animate the sequence exactly like it would be done in the final shot to determine timing, compositing, and movement.

Dozoretz has recently been at work on Episode I. He was the third artist hired for the task. The special editions only had two or three shots previsualized in certain areas, whereas Episode I contains 800 or 900 previsualized shots. Dozoretz has just finished a major action scene for Episode 1. His other credits include Jurassic Park, Dragonheart, Mission: Impossible, and Forrest Gump.
