Carrie Fisher has appeared in a number of acclaimed films since her memorable performance as
Princess Leia Organa in
Star Wars. The daughter of actress Debbie Reynolds and singer Eddie Fisher made her screen debut at age 17 alongside Warren Beatty, Julie Christie and Goldie Hawn in
Shampoo (1975). She has since performed in such hit films as
The Blues Brothers (1980),
Hannah and Her Sisters (1986), and
When Harry Met Sally (1989).
Though she is more famous for her film roles, Carrie devotes the majority of her time to writing. She has penned several novels, including the semi-autobiographical "Postcards from the Edge," which was made into a successful movie starring Oscar-winning actress Meryl Streep. She is also one of the most sought-after "script doctors" in Hollywood, and her writing credits include the 1997 Academy Awards show.
Carrie lives in Los Angeles with her daughter, Billie. Her recent film appearances include roles in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001), Heartbreakers (2001), and Scream 3 (2000).
